Karsten Smet named Entrepreneur of the Year in Thames Valley Business & Community Awards

Leading UK distributor to some of the biggest brands in pharma, food and road, ACI Group Ltd (ACI Group), has scooped a major win at the Thames Valley Business & Community Awards after Director Karsten Smet was awarded the ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ accolade.

Karsten Smet claimed the accolade after impressing the judges with his submission entry, inching ahead of the other worthy finalists in the category. The judges commended his passionate approach to business, insatiable energy and ambitious nature to think big in order to bring more opportunity to the Thames Valley region.

The award ceremony, which was hosted by TV personality and radio presenter Mary Flavelle, took place on 30th November at the Hilton in Reading with around 350 businesses, charities and non-profit organisations in attendance. Entertainment was provided by the UK’s leading tribute duo Sparky & Sprite and was rounded off by a special appearance from Olympian Naomi Riches, MBE, who spoke at the event.

In addition, ACI Group went on to be announced Finalist and hence runner up in the 'Business of the Year' awards, meaning both Karsten and ACI Group will now head to the National Final.

Karsten commented: “We are, without a doubt, absolutely delighted to receive such amazing recognition from the Thames Valley Business & Community Awards. ACI Group and I were up against some exceptionally tough competition led by some incredibly insightful business leaders.

“Achieving these accolades is a real testament to our business approach, where we put our customers and suppliers first and strive to make a difference by understanding their environmental, social and governance goals. Regional awards like these enable us to reach higher, extend our capabilities in the region further and become a voice for real change in the supply chain and distribution industry. Thank you to the Thames Valley Business & Community Awards – it’s a real honour to be part of this region’s award-winning businesses and leaders.”

The Thames Valley Community & Business Awards recognise businesses, charities and individuals that have made an outstanding contribution within the region.
